Mario Díaz-Balart, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, recently shared his views on several topics through social media posts. The congressman, who was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami, has been an active political figure with prior service in both the Florida House of Representatives and Senate.

On May 12, 2025, Díaz-Balart expressed his disapproval of Kaja Kallas’ support for Europe’s Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (PDCA) with Cuba. He stated “I am appalled by @kajakallas’ support for Europe’s failed Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (PDCA) with the Cuban regime. Since 2016/2017, the Cuban regime has expanded its repression, imprisoned democracy activists (with many still in prison since the J11 protests”.

Later that day, he addressed Floridians from his district about travel preparedness as summer approached. Díaz-Balart advised residents to ensure their passports were up-to-date before traveling. He noted “FL-26 Floridians As we head into the busy summer travel season, make sure your passport is ready for travel.” Additionally, he offered assistance from his office at a provided contact number.

On May 13, 2025, Díaz-Balart commented on the economic relief experienced under President Biden’s administration. Highlighting recent decreases in inflation rates and consumer prices such as groceries and airfares, he remarked “Americans continue to experience real economic relief under @POTUS’ leadership, as inflation has fallen to a 4-year low.”

Mario Díaz-Balart holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
