Mario Díaz-Balart, a seasoned politician serving in the U.S. Congress since 2003, took to social media on June 1, 2025, to share critical information and personal appeals. His messages covered both hurricane preparedness and human rights concerns.

On June 1, Díaz-Balart emphasized the importance of being prepared for the hurricane season, which began that day. He advised residents to “prepare a disaster supply kit and a household plan that includes the needs of children, seniors, and pets.” He further urged citizens to stay informed through county officials’ alerts to ensure safety during emergencies.

In another post on the same day, Díaz-Balart provided resources for emergency planning. He directed his followers to “visit: https://t.co/RJgtM1gFKK” for information on evacuation zones and other helpful hurricane preparedness resources.

Díaz-Balart also addressed human rights issues by demanding proof of life for Félix Navarro and José Daniel Ferrer in a tweet written in Spanish. He expressed concern over their prolonged isolation without medical care. Díaz-Balart called for their immediate release along with others he described as political prisoners: “Ellos, la hija de Navarro, Sayli, y miles de otros presos políticos deben ser liberados de inmediato.”

Mario Díaz-Balart has been an influential figure in Florida politics since his tenure in the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and later in the Florida Senate until 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and now residing in Miami, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
