Marlon Smith, a former Miami Carol City Senior High School athlete, led his current team, the Columbus State Cougars, to a 78-75 victory over the Catawba Indians on Saturday, March 14, in the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament.

Abney Athletic Center hosted the noon contest, marking the Cougars’ initial tournament game versus the Catawba Indians.

The Cougars will return to Abney Athletic Center on Sunday, March 15, for their next contest at 5 p.m.
