The Miami Dolphins announced on Mar. 12 that they have signed cornerback Alex Austin.
The signing adds depth to the Dolphins’ defensive backfield as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
Austin has played in 29 career games with six starts over three seasons, spending time with Houston in 2023 and New England from 2023 to 2025. During his professional career, he has recorded 27 tackles, including 22 solo stops, one interception, and eight passes defensed. He also participated in three postseason games with the Patriots in 2025.
Austin entered the National Football League as a seventh-round pick (252nd overall) by Buffalo during the 2023 NFL Draft. Before turning professional, he played college football at Oregon State from 2019 to 2022. While at Oregon State, he appeared in 36 games with 30 starts and totaled 140 tackles (94 solo), one sack, four interceptions, 24 passes defensed, and three fumble recoveries over four seasons with the Beavers.
The addition of Austin is expected to strengthen Miami’s secondary as they look ahead to future competitions.
