The Miami Dolphins announced on Mar. 12 that they have signed quarterback Malik Willis as an unrestricted free agent.
Willis joins the Dolphins after four seasons in the National Football League, having previously played for the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers. The signing adds depth to the Dolphins’ quarterback roster ahead of the upcoming season.
Willis has appeared in 22 career games with six starts, completing 105 of 155 passing attempts for a completion rate of 67.7 percent. He has thrown for 1,322 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, achieving a passer rating of 98.9. In addition to his passing statistics, Willis has rushed 74 times for 405 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns.
He entered the NFL as a third-round pick (86th overall) by Tennessee in the 2022 NFL Draft. Before his professional career, Willis played college football at Liberty University from 2019 to 2021 after transferring from Auburn following the 2018 season. At Liberty, he started in 23 games and completed 377 of 604 passes for a total of 5,117 yards and 47 touchdowns with 18 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,822 yards and scored 27 rushing touchdowns on 338 carries.
The addition of Willis is expected to provide competition at the quarterback position as the Dolphins prepare for their next campaign.
