The Miami Dolphins announced on Mar. 18 that they have reached an agreement with Denver to trade wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a 2026 fourth-round pick (111th overall) in exchange for Denver’s 2026 first-round pick (30th overall), third-round pick (94th overall), and fourth-round pick (130th overall).

This move involves one of the team’s most productive receivers in recent years. The trade gives the Dolphins additional selections in the upcoming draft, which could help shape their roster for future seasons.

Waddle has started 78 games over five seasons with Miami from 2021 to 2025, recording 373 receptions for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also started two postseason games with the team. From 2021 to 2023, Waddle achieved three consecutive seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards, becoming the first player in franchise history to do so. His total receiving yards are the most by any Dolphins player in his first five seasons and rank sixth all-time for the franchise. His receptions and touchdown totals both rank eighth in team history.

In his rookie year of 2021, Waddle set both NFL and Dolphins records for receptions by a rookie with 104 catches and set a franchise rookie record with 1,015 receiving yards. That season he was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team and received the team’s Dan Marino Most Valuable Player Award as selected by South Florida media members. He was also the first Dolphins rookie since Zach Thomas in 1996 to win team MVP honors.

Waddle joined Miami as a first-round selection (sixth overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft after playing college football at Alabama, where he was part of their national championship team in 2020.
