Representative Frederica Wilson, who has served Florida’s 24th congressional district since 2011, recently shared several updates on her official social media account. Her posts covered support for Cuban protestors, a reminder about an internship application deadline, and a public safety advisory regarding severe weather in South Florida.
On July 11, 2025, Wilson commemorated the anniversary of anti-government protests in Cuba. She wrote: “Four years ago, Cubans bravely took to the streets to demand freedom from the brutal Cuban regime. The oppression hasn’t stopped, but neither has their fight. We must keep standing with the Cuban people in their struggle for liberty.”
On July 14, 2025, Wilson reminded constituents about an opportunity to work in her office. She stated: “The last day to apply for our paid fall internship is tomorrow! Make sure to apply now at https://t.co/Cu1uVb9z23”
Later that same day, Wilson issued a warning related to local weather conditions. She advised: “Stay safe South Florida! A flood watch is currently in effect. Please drive carefully, stay informed, and take precautions!”
Frederica Wilson was born in Miami in 1942 and currently resides in Miami Gardens. Before her election to Congress in 2011—succeeding Kendrick Meek—she served in both chambers of the Florida Legislature and graduated from Fisk University with a BA in 1963.
