Rep. Frederica Wilson, who represents Florida’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues affecting her constituents through a series of posts on April 14, 2026.

In one message posted at 17:22 UTC, Wilson extended greetings to those celebrating Vaisakhi: “Happy Vaisakhi! Today we honor a season of renewal, gratitude, and community. May this day bring strength, unity, and lasting prosperity to all who celebrate.”

Later that day at 17:41 UTC, she commented on economic pressures facing South Florida families: “What happens in Washington and around the world does not stay there. South Florida families feel it first.

Rising gas prices and stalled progress are putting real pressure on our communities at the worst possible time. That is not acceptable.

I am fighting to lower costs,” Wilson wrote.

At 18:44 UTC, Wilson highlighted challenges related to food security in her district: “Families across South Florida are already doing everything they can to make ends meet. Now, with new SNAP benefits going into effect and costs continuing to rise, the pressure is only getting worse.

Food pantries say they are expecting to see a surge in demand.

That should” she stated.

Frederica Wilson has represented Florida’s 24th District since 2011 after succeeding Kendrick Meek. She previously served in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives before joining Congress (source: FACTS FOR STEP 4). Born in Miami in 1942 and currently residing in Miami Gardens, Wilson graduated from Fisk University with a BA in 1963.
