Rep. Frederica Wilson, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 24th district since 2011, has recently voiced strong opposition to new legislation and highlighted ongoing efforts by Democratic lawmakers in a series of posts on her official social media account.
On September 4, 2025, Wilson criticized what she referred to as the “Big, Ugly Law,” stating: “People will die and go hungry because of the ‘Big, Ugly Law.’ This heartless law will cause pain and suffering across our community. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.”
The following day, September 5, 2025, Wilson described the current period as challenging for the nation but emphasized continued resistance from Democratic legislators. She wrote: “These are trying times as a nation, but my Democratic colleagues and I are fighting back through legislation, litigation, protest, and every tool we have.”
Later that same day, Wilson announced an upcoming job fair in partnership with Miami Dade College and CareerSource South Florida. She posted: “SAVE THE DATE: On Wednesday, October 1st, I’m hosting a Job Fair with @MDCollege and @CareerSourceSFL! Looking for your next opportunity? Don’t miss out! Employers from the private sector and representatives from local, state, and federal government will be in attendance.”
Frederica Wilson has represented Florida’s 24th District in Congress since replacing Kendrick Meek in 2011. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Florida Senate from 2002 to 2010 and in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002. Born in Miami in 1942 and currently residing in Miami Gardens at age 80, Wilson graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963.
