Southeastern College recently issued the following announcement.
Southeastern College Miami Lakes will welcome students to a new campus in January following the holiday break. The South Florida school is moving to an upgraded location at 5875 NW 163rd St., Miami Lakes, FL 33014.
The new location encompasses 39,731 square feet of space which includes a media center, a student lounge, auditorium, conference rooms, and faculty and staff offices. New classrooms are intended for both instructional and hands-on learning and are technology rich, featuring the most up-to-date audio-visual equipment designed for in-person and online learning.
“We are thrilled by the growth we’ve recently experienced and look forward to this new location which will provide added resources for our students,” said Robert Keiser, Southeastern College Executive Director. “With the opening of this new location, we aspire to welcome additional programs which will provide our students increased opportunities to join the South Florida workforce.”
The new facility is designed to meet the needs of Southeastern College’s allied health programs. The new campus features immersive health care environments meant to reflect those of modern medical facilities. The campus includes nursing simulation and skills labs in addition to state-of-the-art surgical technology operating rooms, diagnostic medical sonography labs, and x-ray technician labs.
The change of location comes after more than a decade at the former address at 17395 NW 59th Ave. in Miami Lakes. The new campus is adjacent to NW 57th Ave., just south of the Palmetto Expressway (FL 826), near downtown Miami Lakes.
“We are excited about our new location near downtown Miami Lakes and look forward to the opportunities that will come as a result of this new campus,” said Julia Corona, Southeastern College Miami Lakes campus president. “We have been a member of this community for more than a decade and want to continue our efforts of making a positive impact here.”
The move to the new location comes after Southeastern’s Miami Lakes campus experienced a year of expansion in 2020 that saw the campus population increase by nearly 30 percent. Campus growth included the addition of new academic programs including the school’s first bachelor’s degree, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and an A.S. in Business Administration.
Final arrangements for the campus were completed in November. The campus will officially open to students on January 11, 2021, for the start of the 2021 winter semester. A ribbon cutting ceremony is being planned for a date in the near future.
