At its regular monthly meeting, the Miami-Dade School Board awarded contracts to two construction companies to complete General Obligation Bond (GOB) projects at J.C. Bermudez Doral Senior High and Henry E. S. Reeves K-8 Center valued at approximately $14.5 million.
J.C. Bermudez Doral Senior High – Burke Construction Group, Inc. has been awarded the construction contract for the sitework and playfields project at J.C. Bermudez Doral Senior High School. Built in 2001, the campus is comprised of two permanent buildings situated on an approximately 18-acres. The facility has 1,181 student stations and will remain so upon completion.
The proposed scope of work for this project includes new baseball, softball and soccer playfields; basketball courts, bleachers, dugouts, agricultural area, greenhouse, and an animal shelter.
Total project allocation - $3.4 million Completion – November 2022
Total sub-consultant S/MBE participation: 17.39 percent
Total sub-consultant M/WBE participation: 4.55 percent
Henry E. S Reeves K-8 Center – Thornton Construction Company, Inc. has been awarded the K-8 conversion addition project at Henry E. S. Reeves K-8 Center. Built in 1995, the campus is currently comprised of seven permanent buildings, situated on an approximately 13-acre parcel of land. The facility has 673 student stations, and which will increase to 1,138 student stations upon completion of this project.
The scope of work for this project includes the construction of a new, two-story classroom
addition, with 465 new student stations, including classrooms, an administration area, locker rooms, a computer lab, a digital art studio, a collaboration classroom, science classrooms/lab, basketball courts, a dining shelter and parking.
Total Project Allocation - $11.1 million Completion -- May 2023
Total sub-consultant S/MBE participation: 16.85 percent
Total sub-consultant M/WBE participation: 8.68 percent
