May is Bike Safety Month and National Bike Month, and Miami-Dade Parks wants you to celebrate safely with tips from Bike305 when you take your bikes onto one of our trails or roads. We are working to improve the off-road cycling network with projects like the Ludlam Trail, the Underline, the Miami River Greenway and the new green bike lanes on the Rickenbacker Causeway. These efforts will ensure safe passage for cyclists traveling to parks, schools, beaches, business centers and public transportation hubs.
Bike305 Ride of Silence
Every year during National Bike Month, a bike ride takes place in remembrance for those who have been killed or injured in cycling accidents. Since 2002, this ride has taken place in 458 locations globally. In partnership with Mack Cycle & Fitness and the Everglades Bicycle Club, cyclists of every level are invited to join Miami-Dade Parks for the Bike305 Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 18. The local ride is part of an international effort to raise cycling safety awareness and commemorate cyclists who have been killed or injured in traffic crashes.
The event will kick off at Crandon Park Marina Parking lot in Key Biscayne at 6pm. Learn more online.
