MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--Former Barry men's basketball staffer Cedric Joseph has been selected for a pilot program by the National Basketball Association for the 2022-23 season.
Future Basketball Operations Stars serves to identify and develop the next generation of basketball operations talent through a combination of virtual trainings, expert lectures, group projects and learning experiences facilitated by the NBA League Office. Joseph was selected from a pool of thousands of candidates for the one-year immersion program.
The program provides an interactive curriculum for professionals interested in pursuing a career in sports, with a focus in Basketball Operations. In addition to learning how teams build and manage championship-contending rosters, this program also provides valuable professional development, including effective communication and networking tools in a competitive industry. The participants engage with basketball operations executives and leaders across the NBA ecosystem, all while learning alongside a cohort of other participants passionate about growing their careers off the court in basketball.
Joseph became serving with the Bucs as a team manager during the 2015-16 season, that saw the Bucs advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the first time with a 26-7 record. In 2016-17, he assisted in leading the Buc to their first-ever out-right Sunshine State Conference regular season championship, going 13-3 in league play and 23-7 overall. In 2017-18, he helped the team get back to the Elite Eight, going 23-9.
After leaving to serve as director of basketball operations at FIU for the women's team in 2019-21, he returned to the Bucs as director of basketball operations, helping the tam back to the NCAA Tournament as the #2 seed in the south region.
During his five seasons with the team, the Bucs went 110-43, won three SSC championships, two NCAA South Region titles and earned four bid to the national tournament.
