The No.1-ranked Barry Buccaneers posted a solid first round at the NCAA D2 South/Southeast Regional on Thursday, May. 5, posting a 276(-11) to finish the day in third place at -11 and just one stroke behind co-leaders West Georgia and Delta State.
Three Bucs sit in the top ten as Santiago Chamorro carded the best rounds for the Bucs with a 68 in round one to finish the day in a tie for fifth. Muhammad Afif Mohd Fathi from Barton College leads the individual leaderboards at -7.
The clubhouse is flush with talent as eight of the top-ten teams in the country are joined by eleven other ranked teams to compete for six spots in the NCAA DII National Championship.
NOTEWORTHY:
The Bucs made their mark on par-fours leading the clubhouse at -7 as a team and finished the day as just one of four teams to finish under par on the hole type.
Chamorro was tied for third in birdies with six through the first 18 holes.
