More than 24,000 Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) third-grade students participated in the Spring 2022 Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) administration.
In reviewing these results, one must consider the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in spring 2020. This year’s cohort of third-grade students was the same group of students who were in the first grade during the 2019-20 school year, which was disrupted by the closure of schools.
Following are highlights from the District’s results for Grade 3 English Language Arts in 2021 and 2022, as compared to the state and other large districts:
- Third-grade students in M-DCPS outscored their counterparts in the state and other large districts.
- In M-DCPS, 56 percent of third-grade students scored at grade level or above (Levels 3 or above), as compared to 53 percent statewide.
- The percentage of third-grade students scoring in Levels 3 and above declined slightly from 2021 to 2022 in M-DCPS, paralleling the results statewide.
