As the fall semester quickly approaches, Head Coach Bryan Hagopian and the Nova Southeastern men's and women's cross-country programs are gearing up to hit the ground running for their 2022 season.
The Sharks will compete in just five regular season races during the 2022 campaign, beginning with a race in Miami Gardens, on the campus of St. Thomas University on Aug. 27.
"In past seasons, we have run quite a few races, but this year we decided to shift our philosophy," said Hagopian. "This season, we decided to limit the amount of races and split the teams, so that everyone has a chance to compete at a high-level and to keep our student-athletes as fresh as possible for our conference championship race."
NSU returns to race on Sat., Sept. 24 at Embry-Riddle (Daytona Beach) and follows with a competition at Florida Atlantic (Boca Raton) on 9/30. The Sharks then travel to Tampa to race at South Florida on 10/14 before concluding their regular season on Oct. 22 at Alabama-Huntsville.
"We've made some great additions, with Luca Brang and David Mahnke to our team and feel strongly about our returning runners," continued Hagopian. "Ivanova Yanes, Maya Espinosa, Eden Toal, and Kamila Soja give us experience that can lead us into our conference and national races."
The Sunshine State Conference Championship race is on Nov. 5, in Daytona Beach, while the NCAA South Region Meet is set for Sat., 11/19, and the NCAA National Championship meet is on 12/3 in Seattle, Wa.
