University of Miami Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Amy Deem announced Thursday the 2022 cross country schedule.
“I’m really looking forward to our cross country season this year,” distance coach Cody Halsey said. “We have a lot of new people who I think have the ability to be an immediate impact for our team.”
The Hurricanes will travel to four meets prior to the Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Championships.
“Our schedule is challenging but I believe it’s what will prepare us best for the conference meet,” Halsey said. “I built the schedule around meets and courses that give us the greatest opportunity to be successful at ACC’s, where the course is hilly, and the competition is some of the best in the country.”
Miami will visit Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 2 for the first race of the season to compete at the UCF Cross Country Invitational.
Following the season opener, Miami will travel to the Virginia Invitational on Sept. 16 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.
Miami will make a trip to Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 23 to compete in the annual Roy Griak Invitational at the Les Blostad Course hosted by the University of Minnesota.
“We will have an early season preview at Panorama Farms followed by Griak, which I’m really looking forward to,” Halsey said. “It’s a highly competitive meet lead by some of the nation’s top ranked cross country teams on a challenging course.”
The Hurricanes will finish out the regular season with a trip up to Tallahassee, Fla., on Oct. 7, for the FSU Cross Country Invite.
To begin the postseason, the Hurricanes will head back to Virginia on Oct. 28 for the ACC Cross Country Championships. The ACC plans to hold the Championships at Panorama Farms, in Earlysville, Va., for the first time since 2014.
The NCAA South Regional will be held in College Station, Texas, on Nov. 11 and the NCAA Championships are slated to be held in Stillwater, Okla., on Nov. 19.
