The Florida Memorial volleyball team earned its first conference victory of the year with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 25-13) victory over Coastal Georgia.
The Lions (5-2, 1-1) were led by Carolina Souza who dominated with a game-high 22 kills, while teammate Rafaela Nogueira produced 11 kills in the victory.
Setter Agustina Busque fed FMU all night and generated a game-high 45 assists for the Lions, who won the first two sets in dramatic fashion, and showed resilience in the fourth set on the road.
As a team Florida Memorial finished with 55 kills on the night compared to just 35 for its opponent.
On the defensive end, Kimberlie Correa produced five blocks while Souza and fellow Lion Shainell Taylor added three blocks apiece. Souza was responsible for a team-high 11 digs while Mar Danes and Busque generated nine digs and eight digs respectively.
The Lions continue conference play on Wednesday, September 21 as they face Warner. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla.
