Five Goals Power No. 6 Bobcats Over Ave Maria

St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer (5-0-1, 2-0-0 SUN) remains undefeated on the 2022 season. The Bobcats defeated Ave Maria University (4-4-0, 2-2-0 SUN) on the road at Gyrene Field, 5-2, on Wednesday evening. The two goals were the first given up by St. Thomas on the season.

Ave Maria picked up the first goal of the game with a through ball into the box that just skidded under the left leg of goalkeeper, Franco Acerbi. St. Thomas was able to score the equalizer with Guido Cacciabue putting a backpost cross in the net in the 10th minute of the game. The Bobcats were able to generate offense but the next goal would be Ave Maria in the 33rd minute of the game. The constant pressure from the STU offense would eventually catch up to the Gyrenes. After a beautiful cross from Facundo Cisterna, Tomas Persico would knock it in on the volley to tie the game up and end the scoring in the first half.

The Bobcats would keep the momentum heading into the second half with a goal from Guido Cacciabue. Cacciabue would score off his own corner kick that ended back at his feet. STU would stay on the gas pedal with another goal this time off a corner from Ben Becker, and Noah Tolcachier heading it in past the keeper. The final goal scored in the match would be a great one. Felipe Madero would pass it to Hernando Suarez and Suarez would make a touch pass to Pascal Agostini. Agostini let it rip from the 12 yard line curving the ball beating the keeper in the top right corner of the net.

Guido Cacciabue recorded his second multi goal game of the season, and now leads the team in points (12) and goals (5).

The Bobcats will be home at Autonation Field Saturday October 8th against (RV) Southeastern.
