Women's Basketball Drops Exhibition To D-I Hurricanes

The Barry Buccaneers lost 88-28 to the NCAA Division I Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday night in the Watsco Center in exhibition women's basketball action.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP

Final:  Miami 88, Barry 28

SUMMARY:

1Q - It was a fast start for the Hurricanes as they scored the first 15 points of the game. Reagan Jackson got the Bucs on the board, the 'Canes held a big edge at the end of the first period.  | Miami 27, Barry 6

2Q - Chiara Fusari hit a couple fo triples in the second period, but Miami carried their lead into the half. | Miami 49, Barry 12

3Q - The 'Canes press continued to pay dividends as they increased their lead in the third.  | Miami 70, Barry 20

4Q - Guards Jackson, Roshed Guthrie and Jeannie Scott combined to score the Bucs' eight points in the fourth quarter. | Miami 88, Barry 28

NOTEWORTHY:

Fusari led the Bucs with eight points, while Jackson added five.  

Taylor Fowler led the Bucs with four rebounds.

Lola Pendande led the 'Canes with 17 points, while Destiny Harden had 11 and Haley Cavinder and Lazaria Spearman each added 10.

Harden and Spearman led Miami on the boards with nine each.

Miami's press was the difference maker as they out-scored Barry 32-3 off of turnovers.

The much taller Hurricanes also led 56-8 in paint points.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs open the regular season at the SSC/GSC Crossover Tournament in Rome, Ga., taking on Shorter and Christian Brothers.
