Lions' 7-game win streak snapped in Gm. 1 of STU Holiday Invitational | Florida Memorial University Athletics
The Lions had its seven-game win streak snapped in a 87-64 loss to #14 Campbellsville in game one of the St. Thomas Holiday Invitational at the Fernandez Family Center.
FMU struggled early in the contest and trailed 24-7 at the end of the first quarter. Last week's Sun Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week Tianna Ayulo led the team with 22 points on 10-for-20 shooting from the field to go along with eight boards and four steals while teammate and former Sun Conference Player of the Week Aliyah-Deen Ahmad added 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Lions.
The Tigers took advantage of FMU's miscues and scored 33 points off 21 Lion turnovers. Campbellsville also controlled the glass, winning the rebound battle 40-27 over Florida Memorial.
FMU's Chantel Barnett chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds in the loss.
The Lions return to action on Friday, December 30 as they face Lindsey Wilson in game two of the St. Thomas Holiday Invitational in Miami Gardens. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
