Four Finalists Vie for Miami-Dade Schools' Teacher of the Year Award

Miami-Dade County Public Schools will host the 2024 Francisco R. Walker Miami-Dade County Teacher of the Year dinner to name the most outstanding teacher throughout the District on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center. The hotel is located at 711 N.W. 72nd Avenue, Miami, FL  33126.

The four finalists, the regions they represent and their schools are as follows:

  • North – Vanessa Radice, Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High
  • Central – Don Clerveaux, Phyllis Ruth Miller Elementary
  • South – Khristal Gooding, Robert Morgan Educational Center
  • Adult/Technical Colleges and Educational Opportunity & Acess – Monique Bryant- Clayton, COPE Center NorthThe supporting sponsor is Univision 23 and the signature sponsors include EdFed, Office Depot, United Way of Miami-Dade,and Kendall Toyota, which will present the winner with the keys to a new car. The event is made possible through partnerships with the Dade Association of School Administrators, the Miami-Dade County Council of PTAs/PTSAs and United Teachers of Dade (UTD).

The supporting sponsor is Univision 23 and the signature sponsors include EdFed, Office Depot, United Way of Miami-Dade,and Kendall Toyota, which will present the winner with the keys to a new car. The District and UTD will also recognize the 2023 Rookie Teacher of the Year finalists and announce the winner at the event. The finalists are as follows:

  • North – Soleil Lobato, Hialeah Middle School
  • Central – Franquiana Williams, Frederick Douglass Elementary School
  • South – Briana Pires, Miami Southridge Senior High
  • Adult/Technical Colleges and Educational Opportunity & Access – Diana Erira Cobos, Lindsey Hopkins  Technical College
    

The event will also be live streamed on https://dadeschools.eduvision.tv/.
