Celebrate National Consumer Protection Week on March 6

The Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, Consumer Protection Division, will celebrate National Consumer Protection Week with a series of free community events. Join one and learn about consumer rights and the many related services available to Miami-Dade County residents. 

In addition to getting an overview of services offered by the Consumer Protection Division, participants will be able to discuss their own consumer concerns and submit complaints to staff for further investigation. Staff from the Community Action and Human Services Department, Homeowner and Small Business Permitting Assistance Program, Code Compliance Division and Contractor Enforcement Section will also be present to provide information about their services, answer questions and accept complaints.

  • Monday, March 6, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
    South Dade Regional Library

    Representation from the Consumer Protection Division, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DOACS), Florida Department of Motor Vehicles and Highway Safety (FLHSMV), Miami-Dade Office of Housing Advocacy, Miami-Dade Office of Equity and Engagement, Office of State Attorney, and Office of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. 
  • Tuesday, March 7, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
    Main Library
    101 W. Flagler St., Miami
    Discussion of landlord/tenant issues, rent increases and services available to county residents. 
    Representation from the Consumer Protection Division, Legal Services of Greater Miami, Miami-Dade Office of Housing Advocacy, and the Law Offices of Michael D. Birnholz, P.A. 
  • Wednesday, March 8, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
    North Dade Regional Library
    2455 NW 183 St., Miami Gardens
    Learn all about Small Claims Court from Consumer Advocate Holly Beth Billington.
    Representation from the Consumer Protection Division, DOACS, Miami-Dade Office of Equity and Engagement, Office of State Attorney and Office of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. 
  • Saturday, March 11, 10 – 11 a.m.
    Westchester Library Health & Wellness Information Center
    9445 Coral Way, Miami
    Learn about identity theft and how you can protect yourself. This event will feature free shredding services. Bring your sensitive documents for safe, proper disposal.
    Representation from the Consumer Protection Division, DOACS, Miami-Dade Office of Equity and Engagement, Office of State Attorney and Office of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
