WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-26) released the following statement commending the House passage of H.R. 2, the "Secure the Border Act of 2023," a comprehensive border security and immigration reform bill, that he introduced, to address the ongoing crisis at our southern border and its implications.

"Since the Biden Administration and House Democrats have abdicated their responsibility to uphold our national security, I am proud to have led this effort in the House and delivered on House Republicans' commitment to America. H.R.2, the Secure the Border Act, provides real solutions to restore order at the southern border, strengthen our national security, enhance our broken immigration system, and protect Americans and innocent children–all while upholding the rule of law.

"I have asked President Biden this once, and I will ask it again: How many children and women do cartels have to exploit, smuggle, traffic, rape, and kill before the Biden Administration addresses the crisis at the border? How many young Americans have to die of fentanyl poisoning before they put a stop to this? The days of neglect are over. The Biden Administration must be held accountable. H.R. 2 is a step in the right direction, and I urge President Biden to do his job and work with us to protect American lives and secure our borders once and for all."
