The lawmakers called on the Biden Administration to take immediate action and reinstate all sanctions that were previously lifted since October 2022. They also urged the European Union and other regional partners in the Western Hemisphere to join in imposing sanctions on the Maduro regime. Additionally, they emphasized the need for international cooperation in arresting and extraditing Nicolas Maduro, the leader of the regime.

The ultimate goal of these measures is to deprive the Maduro regime of the resources it needs to carry out gross human rights violations and to protect regional and international peace.

They stated, "We must deny the Maduro regime the resources to commit gross violations of internationally recognized human rights and threaten regional and international peace."
