WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs of the House Committee on Appropriations, issued the following statement regarding Israeli Defense Forces's actions to destroy Hamas in Rafah:
In response to the ongoing conflict, Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart emphasized that, "Let us not forget that Hamas has brought this upon the people of Gaza, not Israel. Hamas is solely responsible for what is happening in Rafah today."
Díaz-Balart further asserted, "It is Israel's absolute right and duty to protect itself and its citizens from terrorist organizations and take out and destroy the evil that is Hamas once and for all." He also highlighted the importance of the United States standing with Israel amidst challenges from anti-American regimes and state sponsors of terrorism like Iran, stating, "We must stand by our ally, Israel, to stop the scourge of Hamas, which has now plagued our higher education institutions, NGOs, and even the halls of Congress."
The Congressman's statements come in the midst of escalating tensions and violence in the region, underscoring the need for unwavering support for Israel in its efforts to combat threats to its security and sovereignty.
