Representative Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) has extended an invitation to media personnel to attend the Mother's Day Celebration at the City of Miami's Allapattah Community Action Center. The event, scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., will feature special check presentation ceremonies and will honor Miriam Urra, Executive Director of the Allapattah Community Elderly and Childcare Centers, with a congressional record in recognition of Women's History Month.
The celebration is set to mark the funding that has been secured for renovations at the Allapattah Community Action Center. These renovations are aimed at benefiting both the Childcare Center and the Elderly Center. The planned projects include structural upgrades and repairs to both the interior and exterior of the buildings. Funds will be allocated towards enhancing communal spaces such as meal prep serving areas and classrooms with new flooring, lighting, roofing repairs, windows, among other improvements. The funding for these projects was sourced from the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2024, approved by Congress and signed by the President on March 9th, 2024.
In addition to this, Congressman Díaz-Balart will present Miriam Urra with a Congressional Record in honor of Women's History Month. This gesture serves to acknowledge her exceptional leadership qualities, dedication, and significant contributions to Allapattah over time.
Among those expected to attend are Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Senior Member of the House Committee on Appropriations and Member of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee; Miguel Angel Gabela, Commissioner for the City of Miami; and Miriam Urra herself.
The event is slated for Friday, May 10 at 11:30 a.m., with media arrival time set for 11:15 a.m. The venue is the City of Miami, Allapattah Community Action Center, located at 2257 NW N River Drive, Miami, FL 33125.
