WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Western Hemisphere Subcommittee Chairwoman María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) met with Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs Diana Mondino, Ambassador Gerardo Werthein, and the Secretary of International Economic Relations Marcelo Cima to discuss issues of shared interest between Miami and Argentina.

The presidency of Javier Milei is defined by a newfound commitment to the principles of rule of law, liberty, and free markets. President Milei’s defense of a strong relationship with the United States is seen as a significant opportunity for both nations to grow together in the direction of freedom.

“I commend Foreign Minister Diana Mondino for her excellent work in building a strong relationship between the United States and Argentina,” said Rep. Salazar. “President Javier Milei’s government is a moral reference for the region, and both he and Minister Mondino are proving that the path to prosperity is paved with liberty, not socialism.”

Since President Milei’s swearing into office, Chairwoman Salazar has made strengthening relations between the United States and Argentina a priority. She has advocated for the Treasury Department and the International Monetary Fund to give fair treatment to Milei’s government after he unveiled plans to rein in reckless government spending.

Congresswoman Salazar represents thousands of Argentine-Americans in Florida’s 27th Congressional District.
