Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) has issued a statement in response to President Biden's recent Executive Order on immigration, characterizing it as a "blatantly political move" with questionable constitutionality. According to Díaz-Balart, the Executive Orders will not alleviate the current issues at the southern border.

"DHS personnel are overwhelmed, and Border Patrol agents can barely keep up with the influx of people, including dangerous individuals, crossing into our country," he said. He further criticized the Administration for neglecting what he described as a crisis and ceding control to narco-terrorist and human trafficking cartels.

Díaz-Balart highlighted statistics since Biden took office, citing over 7.8 million illegal encounters at the southern border and nearly 2 million known gotaways who evaded U.S. Border Patrol. "We don’t know who these individuals are, nor their intentions," he added.

He urged President Biden to enforce the rule of law and address what he termed an ongoing border crisis by pressuring the Senate to pass or negotiate his bill, H.R.2, the Secure the Border Act. "This is the strongest border security bill in history," stated Díaz-Balart, noting that it passed in the House over a year ago but remains stalled in the Senate.

"The President must secure our border and put an end to this crisis now,” concluded Díaz-Balart.
