Rep. María Elvira Salazar Recognizes Miami Firefighters for Bravery in the Line of Duty

MIAMI, FL – Today, Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) recognized 36 firefighters from fire departments across Florida’s 27th Congressional District for their acts of bravery while in the line of duty. The firefighters who received awards at the ceremony were recommended by their superiors and colleagues in their respective departments.

“Miami is one of the largest and most populous cities in the country, and our first responders are always on the front lines to make sure our community is safe whenever danger arises,” said Rep. Salazar. “These firefighters have extraordinarily difficult and dangerous jobs, and we are here to recognize and award them for their exemplary leadership in the line of duty.”

Rep. Salazar personally welcomed and awarded 36 firefighters from across Miami-Dade County with Certificates of Special Congressional Recognition in honor of their bravery and heroism while in the line of duty. The staff of Miami Dade College’s Padrón Campus provided the space for this event.

Firefighters were present from Miami-Dade County, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, and the City of Miami, along with their families.

Congresswoman Salazar is a strong supporter of South Florida’s firefighters and first responders in Congress. She proudly cosponsored H.R. 3170, the HELPER Act, to provide mortgage assistance to firefighters and other first responders. In addition, she continues to support initiatives that ensure departments have the latest technology and equipment they need to put out fires and save lives quickly and more efficiently.
