MIAMI, FL – Today, Representative María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) recognized 36 firefighters from the District 27 Fire Departments for their acts of bravery in the line of duty. The firefighters who received awards at the ceremony were recommended by their superiors and colleagues from their respective departments.
"Miami is one of the largest and most populated cities in the country, and our firefighters are always on the front lines to ensure our community is safe when danger arises," said Representative Salazar. "These firefighters have extraordinarily difficult and dangerous jobs, and we are here to recognize and reward them for their exemplary leadership in fulfilling their duties."
Representative Salazar personally welcomed and awarded 36 firefighters from across Miami-Dade County with Special Congressional Recognition Certificates in honor of their bravery and heroism in the line of duty. The staff at Miami-Dade College's Padrón Campus kindly provided space for this event.
Firefighters from Miami-Dade County, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, and the City of Miami were present along with their families.
Congresswoman Salazar is a staunch advocate for South Florida's firefighters and first responders in Congress. She proudly co-sponsored H.R. 3170, the HELPER Act, to provide mortgage assistance to firefighters and other first responders. Additionally, she continues to support initiatives that ensure departments have the latest technology and equipment needed to extinguish fires and save lives more quickly and efficiently.
