WASHINGTON, D.C.–The Congressional Hispanic Conference (CHC) Co-Chairs, Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) and Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23), have released statements in commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month. In celebration, they, along with some Members of the Conference, have curated a first-ever playlist that honors the Hispanic community.

"To celebrate Hispanic Heritage, we have put together a unique playlist where Members of the Conference have selected songs that resonate with their districts and honor our community as a whole.

I have chosen 'Patria y Vida,' which means 'Homeland and Life.' This powerful anthem of freedom became a mantra for courageous Cubans who demanded human rights and democracy while protesting against the brutal Cuban dictatorship.

As both a Member of Congress and a proud American whose family was forced into exile to find the very individual rights, freedom, and democratic governance that the U.S. Constitution guarantees, I will always stand up for freedom and liberty for those struggling under tyranny. I am proud to represent Florida's 26th Congressional District, a vibrant community comprised of 74% Hispanic residents and home to many refugees and exiles from Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, and others. I stand with those who have come to the U.S. in search of freedom. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!" said Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart.

“It is my great honor to represent a district so strongly impacted by the Hispanic community. From San Antonio to El Paso, and all along the border, the 23rd District of Texas is made up of hard-working, resilient people with strong family values. These principles make up the essence of the American dream. I am grateful for my Mexican heritage,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales.

La Conferencia Hispana del Congreso Celebra el Mes de la Herencia Hispana con una Lista de Canciones Emblemáticas en Spotify

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Los co-presidentes de la Conferencia Hispana del Congreso (CHC), los congresistas Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) y Tony Gonzales (TX-23), emitieron las siguientes declaraciones sobre el Mes de la Herencia Hispana. En celebración, ellos junto con algunos miembros de la Conferencia han creado por primera vez una lista de canciones que honra a la comunidad hispana:

"Para celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana hemos creado una lista de canciones donde los miembros de la Conferencia han seleccionado temas musicales que resuenan con sus distritos y honran a nuestra comunidad.

He elegido 'Patria y Vida.' Este poderoso himno de libertad se ha convertido en un mantra para los valientes cubanos que demandan derechos humanos y democracia mientras se manifiestan contra la brutal dictadura cubana.

Como miembro del Congreso y orgulloso ciudadano de Estados Unidos cuya familia se vio obligada al exilio en lucha de los derechos individuales, la libertad y el gobierno democrático garantizados por nuestra Constitución siempre defenderé la libertad y los derechos de aquellos que luchan bajo la tiranía. Me enorgullezco enormemente representar el Distrito 26 de Florida una comunidad vibrante compuesta por un 74% de residentes hispanos y hogar de cientos de miles de refugiados y exiliados de Cuba Nicaragua Venezuela Colombia Perú y otros.
