Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart has expressed his views on the one-year anniversary of a significant terrorist attack on Israel. The attack, perpetrated by Hamas, marked a tragic event in Israel's history and led to numerous casualties.

"A year ago today, Israel suffered the deadliest terrorist attack in its 76-year history," stated Congressman Díaz-Balart. He highlighted the assault as "unprovoked and barbaric," resulting in over 1,200 civilian deaths, including 46 Americans. Additionally, he noted that Hamas kidnapped 254 hostages, with four Americans among those killed.

Díaz-Balart expressed concern over the fate of hostages still unaccounted for: "One year later, 97 of the hostages taken on October 7 remain unaccounted for, with four Americans still under Hamas' brutal captivity today."

He also raised issues about increasing antisemitism and criticized international organizations and domestic institutions for actions he perceives as attempts to delegitimize Israel. "I am gravely concerned about the growing hatred, vitriol, and efforts to delegitimize Israel," he remarked.

The Congressman attributed part of this situation to U.S. foreign policy under the current administration. He accused it of emboldening adversaries such as Iran through what he called reckless decisions. "The Biden-Harris administration’s reckless and dangerous foreign policy has made America...less safe," Díaz-Balart claimed.

Furthermore, he suggested a firmer stance should be taken against Iran: "Instead of unfreezing billions of dollars in Iranian assets...the Biden-Harris administration should stand unequivocally with Israel."

As tensions continue between Israel and groups supported by Iran like Hezbollah and the Houthis, Díaz-Balart emphasized U.S. support for Israel's security efforts: "It is more important than ever that the United States stand firmly with Israel in defeating terrorism."
