Yesterday, Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart presented the Congressional Veteran Commendation to several veterans from Miami-Dade County. The commendations were awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Michael Coote of the United States Army from Miami Lakes, Pedro Llaguno, a Machinist’s Mate (Nuclear) in the United States Navy also from Miami Lakes, and Lance Corporal Leonardo Polo of the United States Marine Corps from Hialeah.

The Congressional Veteran Commendation is a program that recognizes both wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement of veterans residing in Florida's 26th Congressional District. Recipients will be interviewed, and their wartime collections will be added to the Veterans History Project sponsored by the Library of Congress.
