The representative María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) has announced her intention to join the Congressional Caucus DOGE, an initiative aimed at improving government efficiency. The caucus, led by Representative Aaron Bean (R-FL), seeks to collaborate with the newly established Department of Government Efficiency to implement legislation that addresses waste, fraud, and abuse.
"The American people deserve a federal government that treats their taxes with respect and views governmental efficiency with fresh eyes," stated Representative Salazar. "I am proud to join the DOGE caucus to help hold Washington accountable. The era of wasteful government is over."
On November 12, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency. This department's mission is to dismantle excessive bureaucracy, eliminate unnecessary regulations, cut needless spending, and restructure bloated federal agencies.
For years, the United States government has been spending more than it earns. Currently, it borrows over $6 billion daily, with half of that amount going towards paying interest on debt.
Under the Biden-Harris Administration, national debt interest payments have tripled and now exceed total defense budget expenditures. It is projected that borrowing will double in less than ten years.
"Our credit rating has been downgraded; our foreign creditors are withdrawing; a debt crisis looms over our great nation."
New and innovative proposals are needed to reduce unnecessary spending and restore fiscal discipline in public finances. These measures aim to create market certainty, protect future generations' financial security, and ensure sustainable long-term growth.
