Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart of Florida's 26th district will continue to lead the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs (NSRP) Subcommittee of the House Committee on Appropriations during the 119th Congress. He will also serve as a member of the Defense Subcommittee.

In a statement, Rep. Díaz-Balart expressed his gratitude for the continued role and praised Chairman Tom Cole for his leadership and support. He highlighted the fiscal year 2024 and 2025 State and Foreign Operations bills, which aim to uphold U.S. values while reducing wasteful spending. The 2024 funding bill saw a six percent reduction compared to 2023 levels, marking it as the largest cut among all bills. The 2025 bill further reduces funding by 11% below 2024 levels.

Rep. Díaz-Balart emphasized that these bills aim to reestablish American leadership and advance freedom, aligning with U.S. allies against threats to national security. As President Trump takes office, he will face global challenges such as the war in Ukraine and terrorist activities in the Middle East, which Díaz-Balart attributes to policies from the Biden-Harris Administration.

Díaz-Balart looks forward to collaborating with President Trump’s foreign policy team, committing to bolstering national defense and promoting democracy worldwide.

Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole commended Díaz-Balart’s work on legislation reflecting America’s commitment to freedom and democracy while prioritizing U.S. security and reducing excessive spending. Cole noted that these efforts counter destabilizing actions from groups like Hamas terrorists, Communist China, and authoritarian regimes.

Cole expressed pride in their collaborative work on these appropriations bills and anticipates continued efforts to protect American interests.
