Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart of Florida has publicly criticized the Biden-Harris Administration's recent policy changes regarding Cuba. The administration has reversed some of the measures implemented during President Trump's tenure, which Díaz-Balart claims compromises U.S. national security and undermines the Cuban people's struggle for freedom.

Díaz-Balart expressed his concerns about removing Cuba from the state sponsors of terrorism (SST) list, suspending Americans' rights to sue in U.S. courts over confiscated property, and lifting restrictions on financial transactions with the Cuban military. He stated, "In a final betrayal to U.S. national security interests and the Cuban people in their struggle for freedom, the Biden-Harris Administration has gone out of its way in aiding and abetting the illegitimate, brutal Castro dictatorship."

The congressman pointed out that despite these policy changes, Cuba continues to harbor terrorists and fugitives from U.S. justice, including Joanne Chesimard and William Morales. He also noted Cuba's alliances with Iran and North Korea, its espionage activities against the United States, and reports indicating Cuban nationals fighting for Russia in Ukraine.

Furthermore, Díaz-Balart criticized the suspension of Title III protections for Americans whose properties were seized by the Castro regime. He remarked that this decision not only betrays those claimants but also creates uncertainty in legal proceedings.

He also condemned ending the "Cuba Restricted List," which previously prohibited financial dealings with certain entities within the Cuban military. According to him, this move weakens sanctions against a repressive regime that suppresses dissent.

Concluding his statement, Díaz-Balart said he is "disgusted but not surprised" by what he perceives as betrayals by the current administration's foreign policy decisions.
