Frederica Wilson, a long-serving U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida's 24th district, recently expressed her concerns on Twitter regarding proposed cuts to the Department of Education and other key social services. In her tweets, she criticized budgetary decisions that she believes will adversely affect vulnerable populations.
On February 19, 2025, Wilson tweeted her apprehension about potential reductions in education funding. She stated, "Gutting the Department of Education will only hurt our students most in need. Financial aid for college students? Our public school system? Equal access to K-12 and higher education? The safety of our students? Supporting students with disabilities? All on the chopping block!"
Later that day, Wilson commented on broader fiscal policies being advanced by Republican lawmakers. She remarked, "While this administration is pushing out daily nonsense, Republicans put out their budget SLASHING Medicaid while giving tax cuts to the billionaires who support their political campaigns. They’re hoping you won’t notice, but WE MUST FIGHT BACK!"
Continuing her critique into the following day, February 20, 2025, Wilson called for bipartisan cooperation to counteract these measures. She urged her colleagues by tweeting, "I know many of my Republican colleagues disagree with what this White House is doing. Right now, all Democrats need are three Republicans willing to put country over party—to stand up and stop the damage. REPUBLICANS MUST SPEAK UP NOW! WE MUST PRESSURE THEM TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT!"
