Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart has announced a street naming ceremony in honor of Lincoln Díaz-Balart. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at noon in Hialeah, Florida.
Lincoln Díaz-Balart was sworn into the 103rd U.S. Congress in 1993 and served until his retirement in 2011. He was recognized for his work as an advocate for those oppressed and silenced, authoring significant legislation such as the democracy requirement for lifting U.S. sanctions against Cuba and the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA).
The ceremony will see portions of East 4th Avenue—spanning from East Okeechobee Road to East 21st Street and from East 25th Street to East 65th Street—renamed “Lincoln Díaz-Balart Way.”
Key attendees include Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart, Vice Chair of the House Committee on Appropriations; Mayor Esteban Bovo of Hialeah; Rene Garcia, Commissioner of Miami-Dade County Commission District 13; and council members from the City of Hialeah.
The event will take place at the intersection of East 4th Avenue and East 65th Street in Hialeah.
