Women's Soccer Slides Past Conquistadors

Buc score three before the game was called early

The Barry Buccaneers slide in three goals early and walked away with a win when the game was called in the 75th minute due to lightning as they beat Florida National 3-0 at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday night.

SUMMARY:

  • 5:39 - Barry got on the board quickly Mia Applegate tapped in a rebound after a shot by Cristina Blaya in the sixth minute.  | Barry 1, FNU 0
  • 56:22 - McKenna Delong got on the board for the third straight game. She passed the ball to Natalia Lima in front of the goal. FNU keeper Vanessa Osorio stopped Lima's shot, but Delong was there for the rebound.  | Barry 2, FNU 0
  • 72:17 - A scrum in front of the FNU goal ended when The Conquistadors' Anyeli Castillo pounced on the ball, drawing a yellow card for handling and awarding a penalty to the Bucs. Blaya stepped up and buried the resulting shot.  | Barry 3, FNU 0
  • 74:27 - Just moments after the PK, the game was halted due to lightning and later declared official. | Barry 3, FNU 0   
NOTEWORTHY:

  • Emily Parrott picked up her fourth straight win and third shutout in five games in goal for the Bucs. She faced only one shot, but made the save.
  • Osorio made 12 saves, but conceded three goals to take the loss.
  • With one more game on Saturday, the Bucs are 3-0 on the current home stand.

Barry takes on Florida Tech in the Sunshine State Conference opener on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 6:00 pm in the friendly confines.
