Rep. María Elvira Salazar, along with Speaker Mike Johnson and other Republican leaders, held a press conference in Washington, D.C. to express their support for Israel and denounce one-sided pressure for a ceasefire in the conflict with Hamas.
“We must send the unequivocal message to the International Community that we stand with the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel – through our words, our resolutions, and our actions as a nation,” said Rep. Salazar.
“Joe Biden is seemingly more concerned with placating the anti-semitism in his base than standing with our historic and vitally important ally, Israel. It’s shocking to House Republicans. It’s wrong and dangerous,” said Speaker Johnson.
In a show of support for Israel, Congresswoman Salazar introduced H.Res. 1117, a resolution that reaffirms the United States’ support for the State of Israel and condemns the brutal attack Hamas perpetrated against Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023. The resolution also opposes efforts to place one-sided pressure on Israel with respect to Gaza.
"We must stand with Israel, and House Republicans commend Rep. Salazar’s leadership on this issue," Speaker Johnson added.
The joint press conference aimed to highlight the importance of supporting Israel and rejecting one-sided pressure for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict.
