WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) today exposed the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) voter registration initiative in Michigan ahead of the 2024 elections.

The SBA, established to assist Americans in starting and growing their businesses, has been accused of using federal resources for political activities. "The evidence is pointing to the Biden Administration using taxpayer money illegally to increase their chances of winning reelection," said Rep. Salazar. “How will the American people know if the SBA will truly remain nonpartisan when they are registering voters?”

The House Committee on Small Business released a "Memorandum of Understanding" (MOU) between the SBA and Michigan’s Department of State. The MOU aims to increase voter registration by designating the SBA as a voter registration agency under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). It also outlines the creation of a "Michigan NVRA coordinator" by the SBA to manage voter registration services, with training provided by Michigan’s Department of State.

Rep. Salazar emphasized her commitment to ensuring taxpayer dollars benefit all Americans rather than being used for political purposes. She stressed that it is within the House Committee on Small Business's duty to investigate any potentially illegal or unconstitutional actions taken by the SBA.

Last month, a video recording obtained by the House Committee showed an SBA Special Advisor alleging that Administrator Isabel Guzman was indirectly campaigning for President Joe Biden. Additionally, press releases indicated Guzman traveled frequently to battleground states like Michigan and invited Democratic Members of Congress more often than Republican Members.

Maps released by the Committee overlaid former SBA events with census data and publicly reported information on Democrat-targeted voter blocs. An investigation revealed that 22 out of 25 SBA outreach events from January to April occurred in counties with high populations of Democratic National Committee target demographics.
