Mario Díaz-Balart, a longstanding U.S. Representative for Florida's 26th District, shared his views on social media regarding the political situation in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. His statements reflect his support for those seeking freedom from oppressive regimes and align with his legislative efforts.
On December 5, 2024, Díaz-Balart commented on the current state of governance in several Latin American countries. He stated that "Las dictaduras en Cuba, Venezuela y Nicaragua están débiles y tambaleantes. Con cuatro años más de Trump en la Casa Blanca y el equipo que ha reunido para ejecutar la política exterior y la seguridad nacional, estoy convencido de que esos regímenes tendrán muchas dificultades…".
The following day, December 6, he reiterated his support for exiles from these regions through another tweet. Asserting his role as a representative for a district with many such individuals, he wrote: "As the U.S. Representative for Florida's 26th district, home to many exiles from Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and other oppressive regimes, I stand with those who have been forced into exile in search of freedom in the United States."
In a similar message posted concurrently on December 6 but in Spanish, Díaz-Balart emphasized his commitment to supporting those seeking refuge in the United States due to oppressive governments: "Como representante en el Congreso de Estados Unidos por el distrito 26 de Florida... apoyo a aquellos que han sido forzados al exilio en busca de la libertad en Estados Unidos."
