Mario Díaz-Balart, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida's 26th District since 2003, has recently expressed his views on foreign policy matters concerning Venezuela and Cuba through social media posts. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, Díaz-Balart is known for his active political career, which began in the Florida House of Representatives and continued in the Florida Senate.

On January 31, 2025, Mario Díaz-Balart addressed the situation in Venezuela. He stated that "SIN CONCESIONES DE EE. UU., Maduro debe ceder y liberar a los rehenes americanos, aceptar a estos peligrosos criminales como los miembros de la banda Tren de Aragua, y decidir que él y sus verdugos se largarán ya de Venezuela." He noted that this measure aims to "prohibit financial transactions with entities affiliated with the Cuban military," reflecting efforts by the Trump Administration to support freedom for Cubans.
