Washington, D.C. - Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) has expressed her support for the establishment of the South Florida Climate Resilience Tech Hub, a center for innovation focused on advancing coastal infrastructure solutions in Miami-Dade County. This initiative aims to solidify Miami's position as a leader in innovation and economic development.

Recognizing that Miami is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of sea-level rise, Rep. Salazar emphasized the importance of developing resilient infrastructure in the region. She stated, "Miami is ground zero for sea-level rise, and we continue to lead the charge in developing resilient infrastructure." With over 100 tech companies and a pool of world-class talent and researchers, Miami is well-equipped to drive innovation and technological advancement.

The creation of the South Florida Climate Resilience Tech Hub is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Tech Hubs Program, which seeks to enhance the country's economic and national security through investments in various regions. Miami has been selected as one of 31 regional tech hubs to receive funding for climate resilience initiatives.

As an advocate for climate resilience in Congress, Rep. Salazar is leading efforts to establish a National Resilience Strategy through the National Climate Adaptation and Resilience Act (NCARS). Additionally, she has secured millions of dollars in funding for critical infrastructure projects in Miami.

The establishment of the South Florida Climate Resilience Tech Hub is expected to jumpstart innovation by fostering the development, commercialization, and scaling of essential coastal infrastructure solutions. This initiative will not only create new job opportunities and stimulate economic growth but also contribute to national security.

By leveraging Miami's unique combination of resources, the Tech Hub aims to address the challenges posed by rising sea levels and develop sustainable and resilient coastal infrastructure. With Rep. Salazar's leadership and the support of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Miami is poised to remain at the forefront of innovation in the face of climate change.
