A new report by the Bipartisan Policy Center highlights the economic benefits of clearing the green card backlogs, estimating that it could contribute trillions of dollars to the U.S. gross domestic product over the next decade. The report, titled "Green Light to Growth," specifically mentions H.R. 3599, also known as the Dignity Act, as a primary proposal to address this backlog.

According to the report, clearing the green card backlog would result in a $3.9 trillion increase in the U.S. GDP over the next 10 years. The Dignity Act is seen as a crucial piece of legislation to tackle this issue and promote economic growth.

Representative Salazar emphasizes the importance of economic growth for the American Dream, stating, "If the U.S. economy does not grow, the American Dream dies." He further adds, "We must ensure the next generation is better off than the current one, and immigration reform is an opportunity to fix our broken system while growing our economy."

The Dignity Act, introduced by Congresswoman Salazar and Veronica Escobar, is the only major bipartisan immigration bill in Congress. It is not only an immigration bill but also a national security and economic bill. The legislation addresses various broken parts of the immigration system, which are not included in the economic analysis of the Green Light to Growth report.

The Dignity Act has been gaining significant momentum, with over 25 Members of Congress cosponsoring it and endorsements from more than 50 stakeholders. Among the cosponsors are Representative María Salazar, Representative Veronica Escobar, and other prominent figures such as Jenniffer González Colon, Hillary Scholten, and Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

Numerous organizations have also expressed their support for the Dignity Act. The Agriculture Workforce Coalition, American Business Immigration Coalition, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Business Roundtable, and National Retail Federation, among others, have issued endorsements or positive comments about the bill. These organizations recognize the importance of immigration reform in promoting economic growth and ensuring a fair and efficient immigration system.

The Dignity Act is seen as a comprehensive and inclusive solution to fix the broken aspects of the U.S. immigration system.
