Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) honored 75 police officers across Florida's 27th Congressional District for their bravery and heroism in keeping the people of Miami-Dade County safe. The police officers were chosen through a rigorous nomination process between Rep. Salazar's office and police chiefs in Miami.

"Today, we are honoring those who sacrifice their security and lives to protect ours," said Rep. Salazar. "Miami is known to be a bastion of security, where crime is low and you feel safe walking down the street. The least I can do as Congresswoman for District 27 is honor our men and women in uniform."

The event took place at Miami-Dade College Padrón Campus, where Rep. Salazar personally awarded Certificates of Special Congressional Recognition to the 75 police officers from Miami-Dade County. The police officers represented various jurisdictions including Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami, Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Key Biscayne, and West Miami.

Rep. Salazar has been a strong advocate for supporting the brave men and women who keep Miami safe. In Fiscal Year 2023, she secured a $3.75 million grant to upgrade the Miami-Dade Police Department platform, ensuring that the police have the latest, cutting-edge equipment to protect the community. She also led legislation to assist police departments with officer recruitment, community outreach and public education, retail crime prevention, and the fight against human trafficking.

The recognition of these police officers highlights their dedication to their duty and their commitment to the safety of the community. Through their bravery and heroism, they contribute to making Miami a secure and peaceful place for its residents and visitors.
