Representative Mario Díaz-Balart is pleased to invite members of the media to attend a special check presentation ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The event celebrates the funding secured for the repair and rehabilitation to improve the operation and reliability of the pump stations in Everglades City and Carnestown. In the words of Rep. Díaz-Balart, "These improvements are needed to avoid sewer overflows and significantly reduce the risk of environmental and ecological damage to surrounding areas."
The project received funding through the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2024, which was approved by Congress and signed by the President on March 9th, 2024.
Mayor Howie Grimm of the City of Everglades expressed gratitude for the upcoming check presentation, stating, "We are grateful for the support and funding that will help make much-needed repairs and improvements to our pump stations."
The check presentation ceremony will take place at the City of Everglades, located at 102 Copeland Avenue North, Everglades City, Florida 34139, starting at 11:00 a.m. Media are requested to arrive by 10:45 a.m. Interested credentialed media must RSVP to Andrea.Morales@mail.house.gov to attend the event.
