Free Mobile Veterinary Clinic to help pet owners in underserved Miami-Dade communities

13

The Wellness on Wheels (WOW) free mobile veterinary clinic will be closed due to a staffing shortage May 19-21. Normal operations will resume on May 24.

The Wellness on Wheels (WOW) free mobile veterinary clinic is a partnership between Miami-Dade Animal Services and the Friends of Miami Animals Foundation.

WOW was commissioned to serve the needs of at-risk pets and pet owners in underserved communities throughout Miami-Dade County.

The WOW Mobile is fully equipped to provide routine medical care to owned dogs and cats. Services include (but are not limited to) physical exams, wellness vaccines and boosters, heartworm screening, deworming, heartworm and flea prevention. The veterinarians and technicians will also refer clients to low or no-cost options for spay/neuter surgeries not offered by the WOW mobile clinic.

The WOW Mobile will be stationed in Liberty City through May 31, at the Joseph Caleb Center, located at 5400 NW 22nd Ave, Miami, FL 33142.

The WOW mobile veterinary clinic is scheduled to rotate to various locations throughout the County identified as areas with few or no options for veterinary care.

The schedule and locations will be available on the Miami-Dade County Animal Services’ social media @adoptmiamipets, the website or by calling 311.

The WOW Mobile will be open Tuesday - Saturday 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Appointments will not be accepted. Pets will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

WOW Mobile services are made possible thru a substantial gift and grant funding from Friends of Miami Animmals Foundation Inc., (FoMA).
