Washington, D.C. - On January 13, 2024, Representatives Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Andy Barr (R-KY), and Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA), co-chairs of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus, released a statement congratulating Lai Ching-te on his election as the next president of Taiwan.
"As co-chairs of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus, we write to congratulate the people of Taiwan on their success in holding another free, fair, and transparent election," the co-chairs said.
The United States and Taiwan share a commitment to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
